Windows Outlook Add-In Supported Deployments

The BlueJeans Outlook Add-in for Microsoft Windows can be deployed using various Centralized Management Tools under different environments and details for the same are explained below:

Package Information Summary:
BlueJeans Outlook Add-In MSI package is designed in two ways and the Enterprise Admin should select the appropriate file for deployment, as per the requirement. The two types of available MSI packages are explained below with download links:

Per Machine:
This setup will install the Add-In on a per machine (registry entry under HKLM and installation under Program Files) basis and requires Admin rights for installation. This will suit in the deployments using Citrix, SCCM and Microsoft Terminal Server(multiple users on same machine).

Per User:
This setup will install the Add-In on a per user (registry entry under HKCU and installation under AppData) basis and does not require Admin rights for installation. This will suit in the deployments using SCCM and GPO (installation on per user basis).

Add-In Prerequisites:
Ensure that all the client systems are installed with following prerequisites:
1. Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Client Profile - Download
2. Visual Studio 2010 Tools for Office Runtime - Download (32-bit | 64-bit)

Note: It is recommended that outlook is closed on client machines when the MSI package is being pushed/ installed by the Admin. In case outlook is open on user’s machine, it will be restarted abruptly post the install.

Supported Deployment Tools:

  • System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) 2007 & 2012 - Administrator can download the MSI as per his requirement referring the details above and can follow the instructions given in this document.
  • Microsoft Group Policy Management (GPO) - Administrator can follow the normal standard process of deploying the MSI to end users. See the Deploying an MSI through GPO hosted by Advanced Installer.
  • Citrix XenApp - Administrator can install the MSI under Citrix XenApp server. See the Citrix Deployments - Enterprise Administration Guide hosted by Adobe.
  • Microsoft Terminal Server (RDS) - Administrator can install the MSI on the server, which can be then accessed by different end user RD sessions. This will always be a per machine install.
